World's First “LIVE Carbon Removal Marketplace” Launches Ahead of Leading CDR Business Summit

San Francisco, CA – 10/10/24  – History is in the making in the fight against climate change with the launch of the world's first LIVE ‘Carbon Removal Marketplace’ at the inaugural Carbon Unbound West Coast Summit in San Francisco. 

This groundbreaking initiative, which has already raised more than $10,000 in pledges ahead of its official launch, is a collaboration between summit organisers Unbound Summits and its Official Impact Partner, Terraset, to secure real-time purchases from ten carbon dioxide removal suppliers and provide the critical capital needed to scale these solutions. Terraset is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that pools tax-deductible donations from individuals, foundations, family offices, and donor-advised funds and makes strategic purchases of permanent, high-quality carbon removal from innovative projects and companies.

The partnership will catalyze permanent carbon removal by translating conversations into quantifiable action, spotlight vetted and verified CDR solutions, and aim to change the narrative around purchasing CDR.  The University of Oxford estimates that 7–9 billion tonnes of carbon dioxide will need to be removed annually by mid-century to meet the 1.5°C Paris Agreement target, and the time for action is now.
